Mandarmani vs Digha: Which Beach Should You Choose?

18 April 2026·5 min read·Royal Villa Resorts Team

Digha and Mandarmani sit on the same stretch of West Bengal coastline, just 15 km apart, but they offer noticeably different trips. Here's how they compare.

Digha — Busier, More Built-Up

Digha is the more developed, more commercial beach town — plenty of hotels, markets, and a lively boardwalk. It suits travellers who want more going on around them: shopping, street food, and a beach that's easy to reach on foot from most stays.

Mandarmani — Quieter, Wider, Drivable Beach

Mandarmani is one of the few beaches in India where you can legally drive on the sand at low tide, and the beach itself is noticeably wider and less crowded than Digha's. It's a better fit if you want a resort-style stay with more space, a calmer pace, and a pool to fall back on when you've had enough sun.

Which One Fits Your Trip?

Plenty of travellers do both — a night or two in Digha for the markets, then a couple of quieter days at a sea-facing resort in Mandarmani to actually relax. If it's the second half of that trip you're planning, take a look at our rooms.
